Russian Attack Damages Major Pharmaceutical Warehouse in Kyiv Region
A Russian attack on Kyiv region damaged the Biocon logistics complex in Boryspil district, one of Ukraine’s largest specialized pharmaceutical storage facilities. The exact extent of the damage and any losses of pharmaceutical products are still being assessed.
Pharmaceutical Logistics Complex Damaged
The Biocon logistics complex in Boryspil district, Kyiv region, was damaged during the Russian attack on September 3.
The facility is used for pharmaceutical logistics and warehouse operations and is described as one of the country’s largest specialized pharmaceutical storage complexes.
The attack on warehouse facilities in Boryspil district was confirmed by Kyiv Regional Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko.
Biocon Provides Pharmaceutical Storage Services
The company operating the facility, KhFK Biocon LLC, specializes in pharmaceutical logistics and warehousing.
Its services include providing storage facilities for pharmaceutical companies and storing pharmaceutical products in a customs warehouse.
Because the facility is used by multiple pharmaceutical businesses, the consequences of the damage may extend beyond the operator itself.
Scale of Losses Is Not Yet Known
Information about the amount of damage and the volume of pharmaceutical products affected is still being clarified.
Sources in the pharmaceutical market cited by Ukrainian media estimate that potential losses could reach billions of hryvnias, but this figure has not been officially confirmed.
A final assessment will require an inspection of the buildings, equipment and goods stored at the facility.
Government Had Recently Changed Storage Rules
The attack comes shortly after the Ukrainian government changed the rules governing pharmaceutical storage during martial law.
On August 27, the Cabinet of Ministers said pharmaceutical companies would be able to use additional warehouse facilities and distribute medicine stocks among different locations. The government said the measure was necessary because of continued Russian attacks on production, warehouse and logistics facilities.
