Ukrainian Drones Strike Wildberries Logistics Hub in Moscow Region, Military Confirms
Ukrainian long-range drones struck one of Russia’s largest Wildberries logistics centers in the Moscow region overnight, as Kyiv continued its campaign against infrastructure it says supports Russia’s military industry.
Ukraine’s 1st Separate Unmanned Systems Center confirmed that its operators carried out the strike on a 188,000-square-meter Wildberries warehouse in Elektrostal, east of Moscow. The unit released footage showing a large fire and thick black smoke rising from the site.
Ukraine Says Facility Supported Russia’s War Effort
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later confirmed that Ukrainian forces had struck two major Wildberries logistics facilities in the Moscow and Tambov regions. According to the president, the warehouses had been used by Russia to facilitate deliveries of sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment.
He described the operation as a response to continued Russian attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and said the targeted sites were located more than 500 and nearly 700 kilometers from the front line.
Large Fire Reported at Logistics Complex
Russian officials and local media reported a major fire at the Wildberries distribution center in Elektrostal following the drone attack. Images and videos circulating online showed flames engulfing part of the logistics hub, one of the company’s largest facilities serving central Russia.
Russian authorities also reported drone attacks in several other regions, including strikes that caused a fire at an oil depot in Noginsk, Moscow region.
Part of Ukraine’s Long-Range Strike Campaign
The attack forms part of Ukraine’s broader strategy of using long-range drones against military and military-industrial infrastructure inside Russia. Ukrainian officials argue that logistics centers supporting the delivery of sanctioned electronic components and other equipment constitute legitimate military targets.
The operation involved multiple branches of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, including the Unmanned Systems Forces, Special Operations Forces, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and the Defence Intelligence Directorate (HUR), according to Zelenskyy.
Casualties Reported in Russia
Russian authorities reported casualties following overnight drone attacks, including at Wildberries facilities. Reuters, citing Russian officials, reported fatalities and injuries at the company’s warehouses, though these claims could not be independently verified.
The Wildberries strike highlights Ukraine’s increasing ability to conduct precision drone operations deep inside Russian territory, targeting infrastructure that Kyiv says contributes to Moscow’s military capabilities.
