Russian FPV Drone Strike Kills Kherson Regional Administration Employee
Kherson, Ukraine — July 21, 2026 — A Russian FPV drone struck a civilian vehicle in central Kherson on Tuesday morning, killing a 45-year-old employee of the Kherson Regional Military Administration (OVA), regional authorities said. The attack is the latest in a series of drone strikes targeting civilian vehicles in the frontline city.
According to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, the attack occurred at around 7:45 a.m. in the city’s Central District. The woman sustained fatal injuries after the drone hit the vehicle she was traveling in. Authorities initially withheld her identity before confirming that she worked for the regional administration.
Kherson Remains Under Constant Drone Attacks
Kherson, which lies close to the front line after being liberated by Ukrainian forces in late 2022, has faced frequent Russian drone, artillery, and missile attacks. Ukrainian officials say FPV drones have increasingly been used to strike civilian vehicles, public transport, and populated areas in the city.
Regional authorities have repeatedly urged residents to minimize movement during periods of heightened aerial activity, warning that Russian forces continue to target civilian infrastructure and transport.

The latest strike follows several recent drone attacks in Kherson that resulted in civilian casualties. Earlier this month, Russian drones struck passenger vehicles and public buses, killing and injuring civilians, according to Ukrainian authorities. Emergency services responded to Tuesday’s attack, while law enforcement officers documented the scene and collected evidence.
