Raihorodotska Community Hosts Ukrainian Gastronomic Festival “Kozatskyi Kulish”
The Raihorodotska community in Zhytomyr region hosted the gastronomic festival “Kozatskyi Kulish po-Raihorodotsky” as part of the regional cultural project “Heritage of Independence. Zhytomyr Region — 2026.” The event combined traditional Ukrainian cuisine, local history, folk culture and a fundraiser for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
A Festival Dedicated to Ukrainian Cuisine and Traditions
The festival took place in Raihorodotska territorial community and brought together residents and visitors around Ukrainian culinary and cultural traditions.
The event was organized within the regional project “Heritage of Independence. Zhytomyr Region — 2026,” established by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration.
Kulish Was the Main Attraction
The central part of the program was the preparation of traditional Cossack kulish, a Ukrainian dish traditionally cooked outdoors in a large cauldron.
Visitors could also sample other Ukrainian dishes and learn more about the culinary traditions of the region.
The Program Included Local History and Folk Performances
The festival began with a historical and educational tour of the Mazaraki Estate, described by the organizers as an important heritage site of the Raihorodotska community.
The program continued with a ceremonial procession and performances by local and invited folk groups, ensembles and solo artists.
A craft fair, folk-art exhibition and photo zones were also available throughout the day.
Children took part in entertainment and animation activities, while visitors of different ages could join traditional Cossack games, sports competitions and interactive activities.
The Festival Also Raised Money for the Army
The event had a charitable component.
Money raised through the sale of products and handmade goods at the fair was directed toward supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Part of a Regional Cultural Project
The festival was one of the events included in “Heritage of Independence. Zhytomyr Region — 2026,” a regional initiative focused on Ukrainian historical and cultural heritage.
The project’s events include local traditions, cuisine, crafts and other forms of intangible cultural heritage alongside historical sites.
