Lithuania is small and beautiful country in Eastern European part. As for now, Lithuania is a member of EU and these gives an opportunity to citizens of the country work, travel and live in many western countries of Europe and world and foreign tourists are attracted with idea to find beautiful Lithuanian girl for dating or marriage. Such an effect when local citizens are visiting western countries and westerners go to Lithuania causes higher frequency of marriages between Lithuanian women and men from the UK, Germany or the US.

Lithuania has good economy but still it is poorer than western countries and western guys are looking for wives here to use their material superiority as the trump; some Lithuanian women consciously make such serious step as marriage with foreigner to get material welfare; some Lithuanian women are getting married foreigners because of love and some would never marry foreigner and the only husband they see themselves near is local Lithuanian guy. World is big and people in this world are very different and interesting and we never know exactly what influences their choice. I can’t say marriage with Lithuanian woman is a trend today and many women of this beautiful country get married with representatives of another country, but some percent of those women surely exist and if you want to give it a try you are welcome.

Marriage in Lithuania as in any other country demands some rules and paper work. Most of Lithuanians are Roman Catholics and even if young generation is not very religious and does not really keep to the traditions, marriage would take part in the church and at the official authorities. Read also: I choose to marry Lithuanian girl

The next information is taken from the page of the US Embassy in Lithuania; those are marriage requirements if a U.S. citizen wants to marry Lithuanian citizen:

Individuals wishing to get married in Lithuania need to fill out the required forms and submit them along with their passport, birth certificate, and required documents (listed below) to the Civil Registry office.

If a U.S. citizen has never been married, he or she must have a “free to marry” certificate from his or her last state of residence.  This document must have an apostille attached to it.  The apostille is issued by the Secretary of State of the particular U.S. State.

Divorced persons must present a certified copy of their divorce decree.  Widows and widowers must present a death certificate for the deceased spouse.

These documents must be translated into Lithuanian, and the signature of the translator must be notarized.

Please also note:

At least one of the individuals to be married must be either a Lithuanian citizen, a resident of Lithuania, or have Lithuanian ancestry.  Two U.S. citizens with no prior ties to Lithuania will likely not be able to meet the requirements to be married in Lithuania.

The minimum age to marry is 18.

No medical examination or statement is required.

PROCEDURE:

Once the above documents have been certified, they must be submitted, along with passports, to the Civil Registry (Marriage Palace).  Applicants complete local forms and pay the fee for the service to the Civil Registry Office.  A 30-day waiting period is required, after which the couple returns to the Registry to sign and receive the marriage certificate.  The waiting period can be shortened only in exceptional circumstances.

CHURCH WEDDINGS:

There is no bar to church weddings, but it is necessary to complete the civil procedure above in order to obtain the official marriage certificate.

To sum up, Lithuanian girls and women marry foreigners for better life perspectives; but every single case is unique and everything depends on personal relations between foreign man and Lithuanian women; in our age of technology and globalization we forget about fundamental but at the same time simple feelings like love and adornment that still exist, no matter we believe it or not. I want to know, if man (from another country) are 20 to 25 years and woman (who lives in Lithuania) 40 to 45 years old. They can marry or their is any law about such couple or they are marry at all?

Why there should be any law of this kind? If man is older than 18 he can get married oficially, woman should be 18 or older as well, but there is nothing said about upper age limit. It is also ok according with the law if woman is older than man. If this is mutual union where both love each other, then why not? The other thing which might a little bother you is moral reasons according to which such relationship could be somehow condemned by other society members, especially older ones, but who cares if you both love each other, right? And also condemnation could be matter earlier, but not now in modern times Lithuania. In smaller cities and towns you have more chances to face up with condemnation and “surprized looks” of other people, mostly older; in big cities no one cares.
